Dior and Pearls!

I still love this splendid creation from John Galliano for Dior! It's from his couture collection a couple of seasons ago, but just like pearls, some things never go out of fashion!

(From Vintage Treasures 09)

A gown like Mr. Galliano's deserves the loveliest of accessories, no? How about something as decadent as the pearls here to frame your face! It's from the late 1940's or early 1950's and was probably made for Dior by Henry Shreiner. It's a massive piece with tiers of silvery-white glass baroque pearls and Austrian marquis and chaton crystals. I love the little baubles sparkling the tip of the extension chain. And don't worry about what to wear on your lovely ears, as it comes with the perfect matching chandelier earrings!

Vintage Compacts!

I love this image of a glamour girl checking her perfectly applied make up in this fun compact! I've never been one to do the make up check in public, but might not be able to resist in showing off any one of the lovely pieces I've shown below!
(Photo via My Vintage Vogue)

This stunning piece would be a wonderful addition to a collection! The center powder and mirror compartment features a dramatic rhinestone medallion on the front, surrounded by a lipstick holder on one side and a perfume bottle on the other! Wow!
Dolphin Lady

I love the tassel made of sparkling crystal on this piece from 1929. The ribbed gold tone compact features a lovely beveled mirror on the inside.
From Power Of One Designs

Estee Lauder has had some beautiful collections over the years and this one is certainly just that!
It's appropriately called "Butterfly" and has gorgeous colors in the enameling and is embellished with amethyst, topaz and clear crystals! What a stocking stuffer idea!
From Volaurie.

A classic Fragonard image of lovers is depicted on the top of this wonderful compact from Paris and is stamped "Limoges"...so feminine!
Annies Oddities

I've always found ostrich to be such an interesting material and this cool compact would be so great, especially this season with textured leathers and fur so popular. This would be super for an edgier fashionista that isn't quite as girly-girl.

Hat Boxes!

I love a hat box! No, I don't mean just one, but lots of hat boxes! I love the pretty papers and fabrics that cover them, ribbons and cords that decorate them, and fancy advertising atop them. They are great for storing the obvious hat, but also scarves, belts, and other accessories. And I can't tell you how many times I have used them, both vintage and new, for gift-giving. A pretty pink satin one filled with tiny crocheted shoes, bibs and little white bible for a special baby girl was the hit of a baby shower. Wine, cheese, crackers and linen napkins for a 10th anniversary gift in a lovely grape vine covered style. And too many bath and beauty products encased in cheery florals to mention! And everyone always loves them. It's like two great gifts in one!

Here a just a few I wanted to share with you today...

Pin Up Girl!

I've always loved beautiful images of women by wonderful artists like Icart, Erte, Elvgren and of course the infamous Alberto Vargas! His "Varga Girls" are so elegantly depicted with full on glamour! Vargas, originally from Peru, worked for the Ziegfeld Follies and many Hollywood studios, as well as Esquire Magazine during World War II. This piece it appropriately called "Sheer Elegance".

You could become your own pin up vision in this midnight black vintage nightie. The sheer chiffon gown features the most amazing full skirt with splendid lace straps and detail on the empire waist bodice. From The Vintage Zone.

Marchesa and Mirrors!

Georgina Chapman is the face behind the incredible Marchesa fashion label, so it makes sense that her dressing area would be just as glamorous! I love the glitz and shine of all the mirrored surfaces with delicate crystal items sparkling throughout, don't you!

The real star of a dressing room like Georgina's is this over the top mirrored vanity! How could a woman not feel special pampering herself in front of this stunning piece! This beauty, from The Paris Apartment, is from the 1930's and still has the original Lucite handles! Yummy!

Satisfind offers this wonderful pair of perfume bottles in lovely cut crystal. A ladies dressing table wouldn't be without several!

This charming crystal lamp is a pretty way to make sure your make up is perfectly applied! You will feel like a real Hollywood star with this piece available from Any Old Time!
