MY FIRST GIVEAWAY!

I HAD BEEN DREAMING ALL WEEK OF BEING IN THE GARDEN SOON...

...WITH BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS, HEAVENLY HERBS, AND DELICIOUS VEGGIES
(all the while in colorful couture, of course)...

...when I received the most wonderful news!

Last week I featured these gorgeous vintage T-towels that would have been part of a French brides trousseau, and Jane, from Simply French Vintage, wrote to me thanking me for the feature. Jane and her husband David are a lovely English couple who live in France every year from Easter to the onset of Fall. They have a house in the Burgundy wine growing region in central France and spend their springs and summers visiting brocantes and flea markets searching out vintage treasures. The larger items they sell at a big Antiques Fair near London, England. The smaller ones they sell on etsy and through their website simplyfrenchvintage.com. Here are just a few of the fun jewels I found in their shop...

...French seed packet labels from the 1920's, adorable for framing or crafting...

...charming French garden magazines to inspire you nature girls...

...vintage French fashion magazines (I really want this one!)...

...old maps of Paris...

...classic leather covered buttons that look like chocolate truffles...

...rustic grain sacks perfect for Country French throw pillows that are all the rage...

...metal letters that were used for sign writing, perfect for crafting, especially for kids projects...

...and beautiful vintage French linen thread, which is even their store logo!

They have so many stunning things to offer, especially if Country French is your style! I especially love it this time of year when we think of being outdoors and in the garden!

And now, my new friend Jane has offered to give away a special gift from one of her treasure hunting trips!

She has generously offered this amazing 72 piece set of vintage vegetable labels (she retails these in her shop for $29) to one of my lucky readers! These are not reproduction labels, but original French labels from the 1920's that would have been glued to seed packets and then sold at vegetable and flower garden markets all over France. How delightful it must have been when Jane and David stumbled onto these! I can just imagine all the great craft projects that these could be used for. Gift tags, charming flash cards for children to teach them all about the garden, decoupage, and greeting cards. Framed individually or as a set to brighten the breakfast nook, pantry or kitchen. Keep some for yourself, and give some as gifts. The ideas are endless!

The rules to win them are easy!

1. You must follow my blog.

2. Leave me a comment letting me know you've done this or if you are already a follower.

3. Tell me in your comment how you'd like to use the labels...be creative!

4. Visit Jane and David's etsy store and have fun perusing! Maybe you'll find more goodies you like, and feel free to let them know I sent you. They are also giving all my readers an extra 10% off at checkout of any purchases in their shop, with a MYFRENCHMAID special promotion code!
That's it!

I will choose a winner on February 21, 2011 and Jane will send the labels right to the lucky winner!

Good Luck!

Looking Ahead To A New Week!

More planning, organizing and accomplishing of tasks this week...

...why not do it with a little panache?

SUNDAY...

Just because the Super Bowl party we will be attending will be a casual one doesn't mean I can't have a little fun with accessories! I know every one will notice this conversation piece from Horae. The gold and gunmetal football shaped bag is embellished with a little swirl of crystals for a little extra bling! Hey, it's a party, right?!

MONDAY...

Early Spring will bring some out-of -state family to our home for a visit, and I want to start sprucing up the guest room now. I keep plenty of space open for overnighters to hang their clothes in the closet, but having some lovely padded hangers that all co-ordinate with the decor of the room is extra decadent and welcoming. This is a set of twenty hangers covered in the happiest shade of marigold, and they are from 51VC.

TUESDAY...

I am lucky enough to have some wonderful old family photographs, many over 100 years old and from Europe. I have promised myself that I would catalog them correctly by having them properly stored and preserved, but I have also managed to make lots of copies to be able to keep out to enjoy and share. This vintage celluloid album from Whimzy Thyme is the perfect thing with a pretty maiden decorating the cover. The ideal task that is made for achieving on a cold winter weeknight!

WEDNESDAY...

I have been looking for a cashmere robe for my lingerie wardrobe, and I found this yummy fuchsia cardigan that I think is just about perfect! Why not! And it's at a great price. What a luxurious cover up to a sexy little Valentine nightie, too! Lotus Vintage NY.

THURSDAY...

My stack of mending is ever growing with shirts with missing buttons and hems that hang! The drudgery of this chore would so much nicer with a cute pink sewing basket from the 1940's filled with all kinds of vintage ephemera as well as useful items to complete mending projects!
Wave Song offers this great retro fondue pot in their etsy store...can you think of a better way to stay home and enjoy time with your loved one than by starting with a little chocolate fondue? Why not turn Valentine's Day into a whole four-day weekend?

SATURDAY...

My sweetheart and I are splurging tonight on an evening at our favorite jazz club downtown. They offer the best live music for a really romantic and chic date, and we love just enjoying each other's company and conversation over a lusty libation and great tunes! These vintage Julie London albums would be two I'd like to add to my music collection. Would you believe my parents actually owned the one with her wrapped in the fur? I can remember being so mesmerized by this album cover! Wanting to live a glamorous life started early with me, but I'm sure you already figured that out, huh? Both records available from Butterflye Moon.

Hope You and Your Valentine Start Early!

A Gift To My Readers!

A few posts ago, I mentioned that I would be planning a baby shower this week with a few friends and would love to serve them espresso using this great looking cup and saucer set while we were sharing ideas about how to celebrate with the expectant Mom. I thought this pretty color palette would give us a little color inspiration for the event, since we know the baby is a girl. I notified the on line shop owner of Hemp Seed and Honey of my inclusion of her set on my blog post and I received the nicest response back from her! She is offering to you, my dear readers, 15% off your entire purchase of marvelous merchandise from her store until Valentine's Day!

This really is the most delightful little store, with several of her table linens listed with free shipping, so there are wonderful deals to be had, like this pretty pink vintage table cloth with lovely open weave detail. Although it is perfect for our event, I also love how fresh it looks photographed on this outdoor table suited to a beautiful brunch when the weather warms.

These ivory cotton napkins are trimmed in a soft wavy pattern in one of my favorite color combinations of pink and grey.

She even has the most adorable three -item centerpiece package! She suggests filling the tin with flowers, tying balloons to the handle of the sweet little cup and allowing guests to gift money in the bank so the Mother can purchase gifts of her choosing! Plus, the centerpiece could be an additional gift to help adorn the nursery with gently used decorations to remind her of the day!

Please check out her sweet store and let her know I sent you over! If you decide to choose something from her, the coupon code you will need is FMPBLOG for your discount. Be sure to let me know what great things you find and how you'll use them...I'd love to know!

Have Fun Shopping!
